Too Old To Exercise or Too Young To Die?

Welcome back!
Sounds kind of brutal, doesn't it? But the plain truth is, you can do all the other anti aging things right, but if regular exercise isn't part of the plan, it
probably won't work.
I'll bet you can name someone you know (perhaps a family member) that lived to a ripe old age that never did any regular exercise. Were they healthy in their later years? How many people do you know that didn't exercise and developed health problems because of it? Probably more, right?
If you are over 50 and have never done regular exercise in your life, it's not too late to start.
From You're Never Too Old to Exercise ,you'll be interested to know that:
- Exercising is the closest thing to a ’magic bullet,’ to ensure longevity and a good quality of life
- 85% of people over 65 have some health problem that could deter them from exercising
- The number one motivator for exercise is turning 50 itself
- 52% percent of doctors tell their patients to exercise, but only 14% actually prescribe it
- only 11% of older people do strength training
There are lots of online options to help get you started.
- The very motivational Fit Over Forty will surely inspire you.
- My If You Hate Going To The Gym post gives a great at-home option.
- My friend Jan has a blog Simply Fitness full of a lazy person's way to exercise
No excuses! Get moving! ![]()
