Cappuccino Extract - More Antioxidants For Your Face
November 27, 2007 by GiGi · 2 Comments
If you remember my previous post on Kiwi Fruit Extract, we can now add Cappuccino extract to the growing list of anti aging antioxidants. Granted, most of these are going to be designed for topical use in cosmetic products, but still it seems the researchers are coming up with a never ending amount of new products derived from plant products that we can put on our face.
It's fairly common knowledge by now that cocoa has high antioxidant properties. This Cappuccino extract also contains coffee, which according to some published research, could repair UV damage in skin when topically applied. Okay, so maybe the research was done on mouse skin, but hey, it could be promising.
The company that is coming out with this product is called Iris Trade - a New York based company that specializes in a range of food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and chemical products. Their latest interesting find is snail extract, which will be used in cosmetics. They claim it has the ability to 'allow skin to heal and regenerate'. Yummy! Snail masks!
I do hope they consider the smell when making this product. I'm not sure how appetizing a cappuccino smell is on your skin.

New Research on Vitamin D3 and Aging
This just in from Vitamin Research Products:
Scientists have been studying the effects of Vitamin D3 in women aged 18-79. In particular, they were studying the effects of D3 on a certain part of a chromosome that shortens as we age when we are exposed to increased inflammation.
Because the D3 inhibits inflammation, the researchers are thinking it might actually have an effect on the length of this specific part of the chromosome called a telomere.
Basically, they found that women with more Vitamin D3 in their bodies generally had longer telomeres. And people with longer leukocyte telomere length (LTL) generally aged more slowly.
According to the study authors, “Our findings suggest that higher vitamin D concentrations, which are easily modifiable through nutritional supplementation, are associated with longer LTL,” which may explain the potentially beneficial effects of this vitamin on aging and age-related diseases.
So, there you have it.

Kiwi Fruit Extract - The Next Anti-Aging Antioxidant?
November 15, 2007 by GiGi · 2 Comments

There’s a New Zealand company (Kiwifruit Extract Ventures-KEVL). that has done some studies and is now claiming that Kiwi fruit extract has more antioxidants than green tea.
Kiwi fruit extract does contain Vitamins C and E, Potassium, Folic Acid, and Chromium. It also contains essential fatty acids, which also makes it a good cosmetic application, improving skin radiance and reducing fine lines and dark circles, according to the company spokesperson.
KEVL has already been manufacturing and marketing an Omega 3 oil derived from the kiwi fruit extract. This Omega 3 oil is a great vegetarian substitute for the popular fish oil omega 3 supplement.?
The company is currently in discussions with major cosmetics companies in both the U.S and Europe.
The antioxidants contained in kiwi fruit extract are supposed to be equal to the most powerful antioxidants available in the market today and many times more potent than green tea.?
That’s cool. It would be great if I could just cut up a kiwi and slather it on my face, but I doubt I would get the desired effect.?
