Anti Aging After Shave for Men

June 10, 2008 by User ImageGiGi (Who am I?) · Leave a Comment

anti aging after shave for menWith all the anti aging skin care products for women, it’s not surprising that they’ve come out with a product for men.

And why not? Men look in the mirror and see the same wrinkles we do. I’ll bet quite a few of them use their wife’s or girlfriend’s products.

The new product DermaLastly-m, is made from elastatropin, a bioengineered form of the tropoelastin (a building block of human elastin) which appears in many of the company’s anti-aging products.

According to the maker, “This vital ingredient restores your youthful appearance and improves the condition of your skin in mere months.” So, please note, it won’t be changing anything overnight.

$49 seems a bit steep for aftershave, but I can’t complain. I won’t even tell you how much I spend in facial products each month.

It will be out in the stores soon, but you can purchase it online now here: Dermalastly-m.

I’d say just in time for Father’s Day, but I’m not too sure how he would take that present. You may want to stick with the tie.

Just When You Thought Sunscreen Was Safe…

April 14, 2008 by User ImageGiGi (Who am I?) · 6 Comments

Don't forget the sunscreenIt’s almost summer (at least where I live) and time for the best anti aging skin care treatment - sunscreen!

At least that’s what we’ve always been told - slather on that SPF30 because the sun is so damaging to your skin. But what about the sunscreen you’re using? Is that safe? Probably not.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), 97% of Americans are using a sunscreen with oxybenzone in it, a substance that has been linked to allergies, hormone disruption, and cell damage. This chemical is also linked to low birth weight in baby girls whose mothers are exposed during pregnancy.

The Environmental Working Group has found that 588 sunscreens (many of them common brands, such as Hawaiian Tropic, Coppertone, and Banana Boat) contain oxybenzone. It also found that 84% of 910 name-brand sunscreen products offer inadequate protection from the sun, or contain ingredients, like oxybenzone, with significant safety concerns. Isn’t that fun?

Where’s The FDA?

According to the EWG: FDA last reviewed the safety of oxybenzone in the 1970s (USPC 1975), republishing its evaluation in 1978, at the same time it announced plans to develop comprehensive standards for sunscreen safety and effectiveness (FDA 1978). 30 years later, the Agency has yet to issue final regulations. Instead, it encourages manufacturers to follow draft guidelines that the Agency has delayed finalizing at the behest of the sunscreen industry. As a result, sunscreen manufacturers in the U.S. are free to market products containing ingredients like oxybenzone that have not been proven safe for people.

What Is A Safe Sunscreen?

I encourage you to follow the link to the EWG above and read for yourself. They have a very detailed list of safe and not safe sunscreens to use.

Or you can let me do all the research. Here’s a couple of good ones they recommended. (If you click on the Kabana GreenScreen, be sure to read their page on why SPF 15 is just as good as SPF 30)

Live Webinar on a Natural Solution to Aging Skin

April 11, 2008 by User ImageGiGi (Who am I?) · Leave a Comment

From VRP - There will a live webinar on using Hyaluronic Acid to help prevent and reduce wrinkles.

Skin Restoration - Nature’s Solution to Aging Skin

Hyaluronic acid is a natural moisturizer that with time decreases throughout your body. This leads to wrinkling and the older appearance of the skin. Clinically, this can be referred to as the “plum to prune, grape to raisin phenomenon.” Now this natural super-moisturizer, capable of holding up to 1000 times its own weight in water can be applied topically. Hyaluronic acid (HA) in the skin is super-hydrating and enhances elasticity to help prevent and lessen wrinkles.

Dr. Meletis will discuss the latest cutting edge research as it applies to the use of HA.

Bio-identical HA, topically applied, can buffer the decreased production of HA that occurs with age and help restore a more youthful suppleness to the skin.
