Getting Old Does Not Equal Poor Sex

February 16, 2009 by GiGi

Welcome back!

better sexAs a single woman who has done my fair share of dating the last 10 years, I’m amazed at the amount of men over 50 that think it’s perfectly normal to have a diminished sex drive just because they are getting older.

I’ve also known women in my age group who think it’s okay not to give sex any priority at all in their lives.

It’s a shame because embracing a healthy sex life is one of the best anti aging practices you can do. Just some of the benefits:

  • Relieves stress
  • Good for your immune system
  • Good for your heart
  • Reduces prostate cancer risk
  • Helps you sleep better

There are lots of physical reasons for a diminished sex drive, but one of the more common psychological reasons is embarrassment over your body image.

Apparently, it doesn’t matter if you are male or female – if you’re embarrassed about packing on too many pounds, it will probably transfer over to your sex life.   What’s even MORE interesting is that even though YOU may be the one with the problem, more than likely your partner is the one feeling like your diminishing sex drive is THEIR fault.

So the first piece of advice is to get rid of that extra weight! Many times that is all that is needed to get your motor running again.

If you don’t have any weight issues but are still having problems – get a checkup with your doctor. Be honest and ask for a testosterone test.

There are supplements and herbs available to help.  Like all products of this type, they don’t always work for everyone.

To help you get the information you need, try the Smart Guide to Better Sex.

It covers the basics of getting older and what to expect from your sex life. It also reviews of many natural substances that can help restore lost sexual function.

The one thing you should NOT do is to give up and resign yourself to a less than stellar sex life just because you are getting older. Make it an important part of your lifestyle and notice the anti aging effects!
