Hey, Ladies! Great News!
The latest research indicates that green tea polyphenol may reduce the risk of gastric (stomach) cancer in women by as much as 75%.
According to Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers & Prevention , the study was done in Japan in the large population base. The men in the study didn’t fair as well, I guess, and Cigarette smoking was suggested to play a role as an effect modifier, which explains in part the different patterns observed by gender.
Obviously, more studies will be done, as green tea extracts has shown to be a good protector against a variety of cancers – at least in vitro and in animals.
As I mentioned in my other Green Tea Article , you’d have to drink copious amounts of the stuff to get any real benefits.
Another alternative (although I’m all for drinking it too!):

Another plus for green tea!
I have just started drinking Green Tea and love the flavour, so drinking loads of it but it’s nice to know that I don’t have to drown myself in it either to benefit from the properties.
Love your site.

Thanks, AnneMarie! I had some gastric problems drinking hot Green Tea, but can handle smaller amounts of Iced Green Tea. I found that ironic since it’s supposed to helping gastric cancer.
I am on a colon health supplement that has green tea in it. I have felt amazing on it. I noticed a MAJOR difference within 3 days of starting to take it. They recommend taking a pill twice a day, but I am only taking one a day and I feel great.
Another advantage of using green tea extracts as opposed to drinking green tea is that they usually are free of caffeine, fluoride and aluminum, three things that green tea is often high in.

I didn’t know that – but you’re right! Green tea actually has more flouride than black tea – mostly from the soil and water. Thanks for the info!
