Are Your Anti Aging Goals Unreasonable?
December 18, 2008 by GiGi
Welcome back!
It’s that time of year – even if you don’t make New Years Resolutions, you’ll probably at least be reflecting on how this year went.
If one of your goals was to get fit and healthy, how did you do? And more importantly, how far would you go to look and feel years younger than your age?
We all want to look better than our parents did at our age. After all, 60 is the new 50, right? And more and more of us are accomplishing that. But at what price?
The quest for eternal youthfulness has led many down the road to Botox, surgery, fillers, hair transplants, HGH injections, hormones and a myriad of other anti aging techniques.
Not that I have anything against any one of those techniques, but when the quest becomes all consuming and more than just a desire to be fit and healthy, it may be time to take a step back and look at what we are doing.
What’s even scarier is the fact that younger people are very concerned about anti aging. People in their 20s are thinking about plastic surgery. One survey found that a third of girls ages 12-19 were interested in having plastic surgery to improve their appearance.
Has the American obsession with youth filtered down to our kids? How guilty are WE at feeding into that obsession?
Anti aging goals are great – getting fit and healthy should be on everyone’s New Years Resolutions. But be careful that your quest for regaining that youthful vigor doesn’t lead you down that slippery sloap towards obsession.

Science and research has come a long way in the anti-aging area. Here is a link to the CBS 60 Minutes show about anti-aging that aired two weeks ago. While we wait for five (or more) years for that pharmaceutical product, we can get a head start with the natural version that was released in August, 2008 by the #1 Natural Nutrition company in the U.S.
Hi Vicki,
While I agree that Resveratrol is a great new product (I’ve written many blog posts about it), you may want to read my blog post about paying too much for “magic potions”:
