The Anti Aging Pill Is Here! Well, almost…

Welcome back!
Remember back in April of this year, when I claimed “It will take a while, but the anti aging pill is definitely coming.”? It was in this post : Big Drug Companies Buy Into Anti Aging.
Well, they (meaning Sirtris Pharmaceuticals) are one step closer to developing the Anti Aging Pill. Remember the name: SRT1720
They’ve just finished the mice trials with great success and should soon be able to start human trials.
I won’t go into all the details of the study – you can read that here: Anti Aging Pill, but basically the ingredient in SRT1720 is similiar to Resveratrol. The mice in the study ran more, ate more and didn’t gain weight!
Whoo Hoo! How much fun would THAT be?
I DO hope they hurry up – it’s not going to be that much fun if I’m 95 by the time the pill comes out! 
But it looks like the pill will be used for treating age-related illnesses, such as cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s, not for age prevention.
Oh well, I guess I’ll stick with my healthy diet, exercise and supplements for now.

In the articles about this study, they neglected to mention that they forced the mice to exercise ….tiny little motorized hamster wheels
It’s still a very interesting drug. They are looking at a variety of different applications for synthetic reversatrol – cancer, alzheimers, diabetes, etc…

Very interesting article, sad to hear that they forced the mice into exercise I have animal testing, but this little pill will be amazing to have just to think no more wrinkles!!!
Okay, I suppose it’s bad to force the mice to exercise, but I know a few humans I’d like to get on that wheel!

Anti-aging is a major topic right now and will become even bigger in the next few years as all the baby boomer keep climbing in age. Resveratrol truly may be the best substance out there for anti aging.
It would be nice to have a multi-product anti-aging pill like for multi-vitamin pills. That way the pharma companies could combine all the important anti-aging products like resveratrol, astragalus, grapeseed, querceten, etc. in carefully calculated quantities to meet our anti-aging needs.
It WOULD be nice, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
