Anti Aging Video – Great Tips To Live Longer

Here’s a great anti aging video from CNN News of an interview done with Dan Buettner and Dr. Aubrey de Grey about tips to live longer and also advances that are being researched today but won’t be ready for another 20 years.
It’s really a fascinating video – part of CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta Vital Signs series. Here are some points I found interesting:
- How long you live is only about 10% determined by genetics
- 50% chance that all the technologies will be in place in about 25 years to slow down aging or extend life significantly
- There is no “silver bullet” for long life, but studies of people that lived long lives showed common characteristics:
- All eat a plant-based diet (not necessarily vegetarian)
- Exercise is part of their lifestyle, not an “added feature”. For example, people that live in cities tend to live longer than their suburban neighbors because of more walking.
- They hang out with like-minded people – healthy people tend to associate with healthy people
- They have a mechanism to cope with stress – meditation, prayer, or something that works for them
They mentioned turmeric and how it’s something you need to be taking throughout your life, not something you just take for a year or two.

Great tips! My tip for living longer, is to go for more walks. Every night after work, I will take my dogs for a walk around my neighborhood. At least a mile or so. Keeps me active, keeps them active.. and overall, just a better lifestyle.
